The spire looks like the one that topped the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pa (a block from 69th St Terminal) until a few years ago.

Addison, I like the repurposing of the old theater. But why can't CVS ever step up to the plate with its design? It is the most awful and drab exterior. There is a great Walgreen's in Arlington that departed slightly from the company's corner-property mainstay to inhabit what I believe was a car dealership (possibly on a one-way street - no retailer's dream). It looks great and is perfect for Wilson Boulevard. Here in Charlottesville, CVS built a big new store on 29 close to UVA. The main entrance faces an intersection wheee nobody walks. Working with the City and other retailers might have changed that. Instead it's a sort of ghost door. CVS is simple evil. No longer the Peoples Drug of my youth!

I don't know. That structure might not actually have started as a CVS but almost all of their stores are pretty uninspiring. (Even Walgreens has a little bit of flair that CVS lacks.) I miss when brand-centric buildings were wacky and interesting!

It is as if CVS is intentionally bland; its fonts, the name itself. The new Walgreens are really nice (their remodels of Rite-Aid stores, for instance). I guess the new CVS I mention above is nice inside, but to have that corner, the parking is crazy - getting out requires you to go around a lot and drive along a lovely, older, small mall full of fun shops (and which formerly housed one of our great small pharmacies, Meadowbrook).

Grocery stores are another topic as well. The Leesburg Giant is so depressing. I have written before that when I am in Waterford I go to the Middleburg Safeway (or the Purcellville Giant, which is nice), but having grown up going to Giant in Leesburg with my Mom - well, I feel as though Eastern Loudoun begins right there. Are you in Herndon?
