LA is primarily suburban, not urban. Part of the trouble is how much the sprawl has extended into the forested hinterlands of the mountains, where fires are the most likely.
What I'm looking for is comment on the complex relationship between nature, demographics, and development. I'd like to see (some) meditation on the magnitude of the interrelatedness of everything we are talking about. Maybe Anselm Audley could help with that.
