When all the buildings change, is the strip the same place?

Years ago, for an article on Google Maps and the built environment (I’m not linking to it because most of the image embeds are broken now), I included this image of U.S. Route 22 in the Union/Springfield area of New Jersey, from Google Maps’ 3D view. It’s an isometric view where the Street View and satellite imagery are digitally combined, making the world look like a Roller Coaster Tycoon map.
